Wooden Reptile Enclosure

Wooden Reptile Enclosure

We made this wooden reptile enclosure for my son’s Bearded Dragon. As you can see he has found a simple towel lining works the best for cleanup, as Bearded Dragon’s waste can be quite large, and throwing the towel in the wash is much easier than other options.

Wood Reptile Enclosure Design

The extra large wood enclosure is made using 1 x 1 Pine boards. Recessed in front pain Plexiglass for viewing. And outer boards are re-purposed barn wood planks. Looks great in his barn wood furniture room.

Lizard Cage Development

As you can see from the picture, the lizard cage now has a medium sized table and a ramp for the lizard to access both layers of his cage.

He Loves it, the lizard, and my son. Before we put in the ramp, the lizard was using a awkward board with a net. Which worked great when he was small, but as he grew, it became hard for him to stay on.

So, we had that small table laying about, and decided to put it to good use. My son, Alexander, was the one that came up with using the barn wood with dowels glued on it. (Very Creative).

The Point

We are sharing this wooden reptile enclosure product with you for your opinion.

What do you think? We are considering making lizard cages, out of barn wood for sale. Of course, we will make the second level attachable to the cage, and the overall look with be much more finished than our first project for my son’s lizard.

Our opinion is these would make a very nice upscale wooden reptile enclosure that people would be proud to display in their living room, or in their bedroom, as my son’s is.

Furniture from Barn Wood

Barn Wood TV Stand
First furniture project. Giant TV stand for our home.

First Projects

We started our wood working after Hurricane Harvey. Hurricane Harvey was very destructive to the Coastal Bend, and our home was not missed. Therefore, we ended doing most of the work ourselves, which took a lot of new tools. Definitely cheaper than paying a contractor, though.

The bright side of having to rebuild is a whole garage of new tools, and a family who loves to make things. Plus, with all the fences that were blown down in the area, we had a huge stack of old fence wood. It looks just like barn wood, but didn’t have to tear down a beautiful old barn to get it. This is how our furniture from barn wood venture began.

Family Furniture Projects

Alexander’s complete furniture from barn wood project in progress, and finished, is pictured below. (Please excuse the mess)

Barn-wood TV Stand

As you can see we have had a lot of fun making barn wood furniture. We have a current listing in the Shop. That is pictured below.

Furniture From Barn Wood

We expanded on our barn-wood projects, and since it’s in our son’s room, I will share the project here.

This is Ki, my sons Bearded Dragon.

Ki on the upper deck.

Ki is a very large compared to his other lizard (leopard gecko) , and needed a large home. Alexander and I, made him a barn wood home.

This was a fun project, and Ki loves his ramp to the upper deck.
